More progress on the Carriage

So days of scrubbing, and rust removal, and painting, cutting and sewing and here we are so far. An almost done pram. I also have come to the conclusion that this is a child's toy buggy from maybe 50's or 60's. It had one wheel cap left when I disassembled it with the name "crown" on it. So I looked them up and only found one asian toy manufacturer but couldn't see any products so who knows really.

I have some touch ups to do since I really manhandled this thing trying to get the body back on the springs. Boy I scratched my pretty pink paint job up something fierce.

The inside was covered in rust, so I scrubbed it with steel wool, then primed, and painted a matte rustoleum black. Now whether this is the "correct" way is beyond me, but the rust is detered and it's clean so works for me.

The hood is a black and white floral brocade fabric with a pale pink cording trim to coordinate with the buggy. So cute! Tommorow I hope to get the hood done and make a new lining and pretty girly pram bedding set. Hopefully this will all be done in a few days. Maybe it will get a test run on the baby girl I am almost done rooting(been putting her off to do this buggy)

"Crown" baby carriage

Okay, so I have gotten busy disassembling the buggy to start the renovation on it. Now before anybody freaks this is a renovation for my use in photographs so the goal is to make it pretty not valuable at an estate auction, k.

I wish I could find a nice vinyl but most seem very plain and table cloth like in the store.

I disaasembled most parts other than taking apart the hood, which I will get to later. But here it is in all of it's glory. I still havent figured out whether this is a full sized baby stroller or a doll one. It seems a touch large for a doll one for a child, but a woman would likely have to bend a little to use this. I am 5'4" and its a touch short for me. I plan to make the body white again and he diamond pink, The inside lining at this point will be a quilted white washable fabric and if I find a nice pale pink fabric I will use that for the new hood.

tommorow I hope to start brillo scrubbing the rust away.

My pram, buggy, carriage or whatever you call it!

I got it. I picked it up last night. Okay so it need major help but the body is perfect and all parts are there so restoration of this adorable pram should be fun. I can't wait to get started. I plan to repaint the body white with the diamond being a very pale pink. I am also going to make new hood cover and bed liner and steel wool and brasso the chrome parts. This will then in good time be an adorable photo prop. Here's a before pic of the $20 find.

Its the perfect size for dolls yet small enough to fit in my nursery without looking monstrously large. Its about 12x24 so it's kinda a small carriage. may have even been a doll one but it's hard to tell. Also there are no marking so don't know who maker is.If you by chance know gives a clue please.

Busy day in the nursery

Okay so not much by way of reborning has be happening in past couple of days. I have just been running back and forth to work so much the time just escapes me:(

Well today I happened upon an antique pram/buggy. Thus, setting up a destroy the nursery to make room for it marathon. I had a few tables and bins that were not needed and taking up my much valuable space for me to fit the much in need of resoration but priced o so right pram in. So out the junk goes!

It was a much needed cleanup anyhow so I can't be mad I spent the day doing it. I am the type who can't function in clutter so when the nursery gets cluttered the creativity gets lazy.

I am nearly done and have even called for a refuse pickup. I know my hubby thinks I have gone off the deep end with this reborning thing now that I am getting a buggy. When I asked him should I get it he said no at first. Then when I told him how unbelievably reasonable it is he gave in and said go ahead and get it.lol!

I am not a nut job though. You won't see me strolling down the streets with a reborn in a buggy. It is STRICTLY for a photo prop status. Yeah I saw wife swap too lmao!

Seriously though I have the BEST husband in the world. He is so supportive of me and my wild as all get out ideas. I would never EVER trade him, EVER!

My day of reborning, Not!

Reborning today has been a slow go. Haven't done much. I have a Claire Taylor Abygale that I am setting the final few layers of paint on and that's about it. I had originally planned to make Abygale a girl but after my family said boy the more I looked at her the more I saw a boy myself. He is much cuter as a little aa boy too with his cute little lips. He a handsome little thing.

Also, Maybe later tonight I will finish the hair on my Aspen Rose. I so love when I finish rooting a doll since that is the most tedious part of reborning yet also the most important for a realistic looking baby.

Well I did list Bronwyn. I just am more into a vibe of doing closed eyed kits right now and it may be a good long while before I would get to her so off to ebay she's gone. I'm sure she will make someone who has been searching for her happy.
